A software firewall helps keep tabs on your system. Take ZA for example. It monitors traffic both ways. (windows firewall one way). You install a couple of programs and ZA starts asking you if you want to allow a program access to the net. Thats a good thing. Now if a program (or spyware) gets installed without your knowedge, ZA is right there asking if you want to allow something new, and if you never installed anything you knew about. You know to start looking for what's wanting to get access.And get it cleaned out.

Rereading your question, I missed the main part. You would still go to the old update site. And I'm sure there would be critial updates for otherthings on ones system. But Then SP2 updates IE and Windows Media Player, along with DirectX. One would have to try it to really see what it offers for updates. Could just be one looooooong SP2 update.

So far Mr. B, this site is taking off good, In the last days of TTV, I must have seen 20 to 30 new boards start up. Everyone trying to keep the old gang together, And only 1 or 2 still have activity on them. (and not much, I am sorry for them). Yours, was looked forward to. And things are picking up. I hope this trend keeps it's upward membership. My hats off to you good sir.

I don't recall seeing anything on the last HHD I picked up about being for a PC or Mac. (No more box) But I don't see why it wouldn't work. But check to see what speed the HHD in the Mac is. Older PCs usually have some slow HHDs in them.

Have it installed on two of mine. One of the first to take the plung when the IT version went gold. Put it on my test machine, Than on my main and backup PCs. (I never count my test maching, you should see what i put the poor thing through, LOL). Not a single problem.

Another option, one I use. I put in a second 10G HHD. And I have 10 folders in it. (you can make as many as you want). This is where I keep my backup of everything. (reg files, e-mail addys, favorites, etc.). Also, all my downloaded programs. (AdAware, Spybot, Etc.) And one folder for drivers. It leaves me more then enough space to do a ghost Image of my system to. If you ever have major problems, or just want to do a reformat and start fresh. You have everything right there. No searching through disk or online searches for those programs you liked. (but can't seem to find anymore). Cut my tim
