If you do a clean install of XP then upgrade to SP2, you'll have all the updates and any previous fixes. Found oud it takes a little longer to do the SP2 upgrade on a fresh install.

Yes set it to boot from the floppy first. The floppy will create a virtual drive for your CD-ROM.

Shadow_Thomas; How long have you been using SP2? Mine was acting slow on a few programs and startup. But now after a few cold boot-up (Maybe a dozen) in the last couple of weeks. It runs even better then before. And I wound try and find updated drivers as tenmm suggested.

Here is a nice little speed test for your connection. Net/performance Test It must not be to accurate or my fiberoptic cable is faster then I thought. 5293 Kb high end and 4444 Kb on the low end, doing three test on it.

Try this out. On your start menu, click on the picture by your user name at the top. This will bring up the "User Accounts" screen. Click on "Home". You should see "Pick A Task" And the third option down should be "Change the way users log on or off". Pick this option. On the "Select Logon And Logoff Options" screen, make sure both "Use The Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User Switching" are both checked.
