  1. Somebody's figured out my personal Simms game..... Wait until I finish the game and decide to try something new and then see what happens.
  2. In a different post I suggested using AusLogics Disk Fragmenting tool. AusLogics is a good fragmenting tool. Don't get me wrong. And it does it job real good. But I have discovered two things. So I need to add to things. I have noticed Vista slowly taking longer to boot. So I decided to dig into things closer. Not finding anything out of the ordinary I decided to run the different disk Defragmenting tools. And I did find some interesting things. Unlike AusLogics. The build in Windows Disk Defragmenting compacts the data (moves data to the faster part of the disk) and utilizing the Prefetch/Su
  3. Maybe try updating DirectX. Microsoft DirectX 9
  4. Oh!!!! So true... Way to true.
  5. Sounds like one heck of a system you got going there. If you decide to add it to one of Jeffs giveaways, you can count me in on trying to win it.....
  6. Try updating your graphic card drivers. Sometimes when you get normal updates through Microsoft, the OS will get updated to where older drivers seem not to run as expected. some updates add to the existing instalation in the form of internal OS fixes and tweaks. Thus your old drivers start to fail. Go to the manifatures website for your graphic card and search for the latest and greatest drivers. If your not sure what you have in your system. Try Auslogics System Information, It will give you a rundown on the hardware in your system
  7. It sounds like a hardware problem to me. Two applications are trying for the same allocated memory space at the same time. Try updating both your sound drivers and graphic drivers from the "manifactures" websites and see if that cures your problem.

  11. Thanks for the tip, I'm sure some will find it helpful.
  12. I used it all the time before Firefox came along. It still has some good features included.
  13. Mine said I would make it to 79. But if I quit smoking, drinking, eating what I eat, get off my butt, do something besides sitting on my butt. (LOL) That I could live to be a decrepit old fart. But I look at it this way. The way I was as a kid... I never thought I would see my 21st birthday. Everday since then each day has been a gift... or a bad joke played on me by fate.... LOL
  14. I want to give some info here about Vista's ReadyBoost (RB). I have been receiving e-mails asking why some people cannot see the ReadyBoost Tab when they insert their FlashDrive and try setting up the ReadyBoost feature on there systems. Not all FlashDrives are compatible with using Vista's ReadyBoost Feature. You must check the manufactures Website to check the specks on your FlashDrive and to see if it is compatible. Many new and top name distributors are making two almost identical drives. One that is capable of using RB. And one just slightly less in cost that does not support RB. If y
  15. Keep a ghost-copy backup of your vista environment automatically. You can set it to backups on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule. Make up to the date backups to any media. Your Hard Drive, CD, DVD or a Network Drive. You can make automatic backups of all the Hard Drives installed in your PC. What's the difference between backing up files by using the Back Up Files wizard and doing it yourself? When you burn a copy of your files to a CD or DVD or save a copy to an external hard disk, each time you want to do a backup, you have to manually select each file and folder that you want to back up.
  16. Does the Hard Drive light flicker or does it stay constantly on and not go off? Are you using onboard graphics, or a graphics card? Is this a LCD, or CTR monitor? Do you have a spare monitor you can try?
  17. Ho Ho Ho... Remember... You'll shoot your eye out kid. Happy Holidays

  20. I'ed dig out my TI994/A out of the garage. But there are a couple of the games I bought I never could get past the first part on. And If I got started again...... I'ed have to just down right smash the dumb game..... LOL
  21. If you go with Vista. Keep in mind to look into a higher quality graphic card with a larger cache. Vista's new architect pushes more of the graphic workload on the graphic card. Making it do more of the work. (that way it frees up the workload on the main processor). That's why people are complaining about Vista. The older or smaller cards don't know how, or can't handle the pressure. With XP, The main processor still does most of the graphic rendering and the graphic card isn't worked near as hard.
  22. If it is the onboard, yes a good graphics card will really help. Tho onboard graphic cards are not bad. But. If you really want to get into heavy video rendering. You need to get it out of a good graphic card. Shop around, You can get a good one for under $100. But if they want to get deep into gaming or something like poser rendering, you could find a card that will really preform going for up to $800.
  23. When you moved the monitor, did it also move the cord to the PC? Try unconnecting the monitor from the PC and reconnecting it back up. If that doesn't help, try moving the cable starting from the PC all the way to the monitor to see if at some point the monitor starts to flicker.
