  7. Well now to SP1 for Vista. SP1 will be available through Microsoft Windows Update this spring. Windows Update automatic updates would normally automatically update your machine each night for several days with the prerequisites and then offer the Service Pack. It will be done in four steps. Prier to the SP1 download, everyone will get three required updates to prepare for SP1. you will have to install all pending “Important†updates and reboot. You may have to do this several times to get fully up to date. The first update will be KB935509, This is the first pre-requisite install and will require a reboot. The second update will be KB937287 which will not need to be rebooted. The third KB938371 will also require a system reboot. Now everything will be ready for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330). Downloading SP1 takes around 30 minutes to fully download (high speed cable). From starting the SP1 install to reboot and finally the desktop takes about an hour and a half. (half an hour just for the reboot itself. (The configuring update before reboot, and the configuring update after rebooting)). Everything went extremely smooth. At first I started to wonder. The normal cold start or a reboot seemed to take some time. I thought at first things were going backward with Vista. But after about 5 reboots total, things took a big turn. Starting my system from a cold start, the time was cut in half. And for rebooting the system, everything is back before I can get a cup of coffee. (or a beer if it's getting late...LOL) It is now twice as fast as XP would ever boot for me. The desktop doesn't seem any different for looks. But program response and execution times have greatly improved. Along with over all performance. I have noticed the system uses more Ram then before. But anyone with a Gig and a half or more needn't be worried. (I run one and a half myself). Allot of SP1s features are in greater security and program compatibility for third party software. Also hosting many new drivers for hardware. SP1 has many Vista Hot fixes that have been out. But never really offered through Windows Update. (I get the KBs and descriptions from my TechNet and MSDN subscriptions, so I have tried many of the hot fixes). I think everyone will be pleased by what SP1 offers, and in the increased performance overall. Adding increased security second. (I know everyone wants the speed....LOL). JSKY

Happy Birthday Matt Hope you had fun!
  14. Why are internet speeds in Vista slower then XPs It all comes down to Vista’s “Auto Tuning†feature. Turns out that this feature isn’t compatible with many routers and networking devices. This means that the feature that was supposed to be a boon turned itself into some sort of a bane. Anyways here’s what you need to do turn off the Auto Tuning feature on Vista.. At the Start menu type command, but don’t launch the command prompt immediately. Instead, right-click it and choose Run As Administrator. Once the prompt is open enter the following command. netsh interface tcp show global If the line "Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level" does not say “disabled,†(It most likely says =highlyrestricted) enter this command: netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=restricted If this doesn’t help, substitute this command and see if it works netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled You should now notice considerable improvements in your browsing speeds, or rather you should be cruising. If it works, you should notice the difference in browsing speeds immediately. If it doesn’t work for you, and you feel the need to put things back the way they were, you can type this command: netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal Stay Safe

    Ms Tech Support

I think we have all spoken to him !!!!! Microsoft Tech Support Mujibar was trying to get a job in India . The Microsoft Personnel Manager said, 'Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except one. Unless you pass it , you cannot qualify for this job.' Mujibar said, 'I am ready.' The manager said, 'Make a sentence using the words Yellow , Pink and Green .' Mujibar thought for a few minutes and said, 'Mister manager, I am ready' The manager said, 'Go ahead.' Mujibar said, 'The telephone goes green, green , and I pink it up, and say, ' Yellow ' , this is Mujibar.' Mujibar now works at a call center. No doubt you have spoken to him. I know I have.

    Obama

I myself feel sorry for Obama. We (the USA) and the whole world have placed him up on one large pedistal. And our problems are much more then we or the rest could possibly think they are. Obama walked into one BIG F**King Mess. We have placed him in a position that he has to either preform a miracle of godly proportions or to fail miserably. No man should be placed in a position we have him in at the moment.

  22. For those interested. Microsoft is saying that they are releasing Windows 7 beta to the public off it's website tomorrow, Friday the 9th. Windows 7 It will allow you to test and play with Windows 7 for up to six months. REMEMBER THO This is a BETA.... Install it on a spare hard drive. DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR EXISTING OS. I like it... It's a fancy Vista. Or what Vista should have been when it was released.
  23. Make sure you have all the updated graphic drivers would be a start.
