  1. Being from Dallas, I have to say.... I fully agree! I can't stand the Cowboys...and I live just blocks from their stadium...I'm planning on going to a few games this year just to enjoy the pro football atmosphere and cheer against the boys. I'm a huge Patriots fan myself - have been for about 20 years now. And, since I felt I should cheer on a local team, when Houston got a team, I took the Texans under my wing. So those are really my two teams. The 'Niners are my favorite NFC team though - I was a big fan when they had Montana, Rice, Rathman and even into the days of Young, Hearst, T.O
  2. Excellent suggestion Nerelda - I like the speed of these boards, and would hate to change that. Plus, it would cause more stress for B, and there's no need to do that. I have to learn Photobucket I guess, but if others have, there's no reason I can't.
  3. I second that thought mikex - I figured at first when I came over here that I'd split my time 50/50 with the G4 boards, but it's more like 90/10. I'm just not as happy over there...it's like, when I go to read posts there now, I get tense and on edge, just knowing that there's some dimwit who's going to disobey the forum rules for the 100th time or that whatever comment I make will be harassed. It just gets old. All the members here seem to come to the table with the same goals - talk about tech and have fun doing it. Like you said, if we can fix the problem, then we'll drink to it...if n
  4. Nerelda, I agree, they should make it a universal rule that there needs to be a preview with the skin. But, several of them do have previews. And, most of them only take like 10 seconds to download and install, and then when they're installed they have a preview in the little themes window....so, it could be worse. Then again, maybe I'm just being an optimist again...hehehe
  5. I'm glad folks aren't being nasty about this subject, because I almost posted it last week and was afraid it might turn into a mess like it did over on the G4TTV boards. Heheheh...I should have had more faith that the folks over here were more mature. I am not overly-impressed with the new show, but at the same time I don't think it's as bad as many of the posters over at the "other board" do. I think it has had some good moments, but overall things haven't been as high-quality as when Pat & Leo were doing the show. When Leo left and Kevin took over, I felt the tech content of the sho
  6. I used Lila for a while, but now I use Apollo. I have another one on my home computer, but can't think of the name right now and I'm being too lazy to go sniff through the site to find it. Check around on that site, though, cause there's a bunch of good themes, I think.
  7. X-Cannon: Have you checked your settings in the mouse control panel to make sure that the "invert" selection isn't on? I know there are settings that will make the mouse go up when you go down and left when you go right, that's why I thought of that right off the bat. Just a thought....
  8. Homestarrunner - StrongBad's Email The Onion Fark MacDesktops - A great place for desktop pictures, even if you're putting them on a windows machine. and, of course, HERE!
  9. Well, if you go to the manufacturer's website (if that info is known), then the best place to check for driver updates is there. Usually there's a support section of some sort, and in that support section is a place for drivers for their products. I know that Nerelda has a link for a driver database she likes too, but I can't recall what it is. Sorry Nerelda...hehehe... Maybe she'll post it if she sees this. But, the manufacturer's website should have it.
  10. handplane: Not sure if this will help or not, but it might be worth a shot, since I haven't heard of anything like this before. May just be that spybot hasn't encountered it yet. But give this a shot: From Spybot S&D's site: With the installation of 1.1 rel 4, there was a very small chance that all automation options have been enabled during the installation. This would cause a loop that would restart the scan again and again. If you experience such problems, please switch to the "Settings" page in Spybot-S&D (the page with the treeview), and disable all settings in the category "Aut
  11. Okay, thanks for the clarification agent2020. That's what they refer to as a "Blue G3 Tower". I know it's kind of a greenish blue, but that's the one I figured it might be. I know exactly what button you pressed now, but I didn't know it did this on OS X - definitely follow macmarauder's advice, cause I think it should help fix it...he may not be on again for a few hours, but when he's back you'll be in good hands. Is there any way you can get your hands on an OS X cd? Did you buy it off of eBay or do you know the guy who sold it do you? Having a cd would be extremely helpful in this situ
  12. What version of Spybot are you running, handplane? Is it going through the progress slowly or is it getting to a certain point and then stopping or slowing down? Thx!
  13. The main thing to find out would be to tell if it were a beige G3 Powermac or a Blue G3 Tower...that will tell volumes alone. I'm gonna let macmarauder run with this, because he sounds like he knows more about this area than I do for sure! I didn't know that button did that! lol...haven't ever run into a problem such as this...glad he has. Hang in there agent2020...help is on the way.
  14. Okay karudicator - thanks. That is really strange...I guess it must be associated with SP2 in some way in this instance, but from the research I was pulling, there were similar instances that happened before SP2. At least, before a public release of it - if someone had a beta or something of it, I think that was back in the winter. But, that probably isn't the case. Maybe someone else will have some luck in finding a more relevant case and fix of this issue.
  15. I'm actually coming across this in a couple of forums around the web, and no one really seems to have an answer on it.... It's a little strange...but, I don't think it's linked to SP2, because a couple of the postings are from January of this year. So...kind of leaves us back near square one. An interesting head-scratcher for sure...<rah rah, go team go-type babble>This might be our first real stumper group!! Let's band together and see if we can do this. </rah rah, go team go-type babble> UPDATE: Trying not to keep posting ad-nauseum, so I figured I would add to my last one
  16. How sure are you that they're related to XP SP2? The list of extensions and related programs that I'm seeing seems to indicate that they could belong to several programs, some of which may use these files in a necessary capacity. Just something to be cautious of. I'll look and see if I can find anything else on MS's site too...
  17. Welcome Earnoldo! You were better off skipping the G4 boards...I have been on there very sporadically lately and I'm starting to question why I even do that. It's all dimwitted name-calling and flaming with very few questions even being asked anymore. I think they've scared folks off from asking them! It's a marked change even from July when I started being a part of the boards. It's great that B opened this up, cause I wouldn't have another tech refuge if not. Thank goodness I do! I may just give up on the other ones completely before long...
  18. They usually add that kind of information in the liner notes somewhere with a CD. If it's a multimedia disk, it usually tells you what OS you need to have, what applications, etc., etc. Might be in some tiny, tiny print somewhere on there...they love to try and give you cataracts searching for it...
  19. I would recommend using a completely different physical hard drive than a partition on an existing one. The reason I say this is, if you have a problem where the drive malfunctions and won't work, you'll lose access to both partitions where if you have the information on another drive, it will be easier to access. If this isn't possible, consider backing up on CD or DVD.
  20. I was going to add my thoughts on the .vcd file, but it's well covered now. hehehe... There's a few good sites out there that will allow you to type in an extension and it will tell you what kind of file it is. Here are two decent ones: The File Extension Source Glossary of Computer Filename Extensions I keep the first one bookmarked in case I run across one I haven't heard of before. It's helpful to have that kind of a resource at your fingertips.
  21. Here, here...add my vote to the pile of votes that seems to be stacking up near the door
  22. I don't think it'll work out - the Lego guys are Union

    Hi B

Tyme!!! Good to see you again, and this time on the FUNBOARD...hehehe.... Hopefully you'll be back posting regularly again soon...in the meantime just enjoy the reading when you can, and take your time getting back to full health...got someone to pour you a nice rum and coke once in a while? It's a very important position to have filled in a time like this! Alright - take care for now. Talk to you soon.
  24. I can see this site being a future bookmark that is well used. Thanks Nerelda - by George...you've done it again...
