  1. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Huby and I are hardly speaking... well now it's not what you thought either (though I admit we have been stressed out abit with all this new season of our lives stuff to figure out but haven't gotten mad enough to quit speaking!!!)...We just have a light case of a larnygitis(sp?) bug.... can't spell or type either...fuzzy headed too, or fuzzier than usual I should say. He's better than me, he got it first. So will do a nice ham dinner for him tomorrow, though I may just eat soup. As for going down to NZ, that is one of things I have always wanted to d
  2. And here folks is an article from our Oregonian tv columnist, that adds perspective to this whole tragedy and why we became so wrapped up in the unfolding events. Also I want to add that many many people and organizations and government agency people here in Oregon and around the country freely gave of their time and money to search for the Kims. Most did the best they could to find them. Only a few missed the mark of doing all they should have when they should have. I should have emphasized (sp?) that point earlier. The same with all the groups working on Mt Hood, many many volunteers and pr

  4. Hello Marty, I don't know what the problem is with why they can't or wont communicate all tips and info to each other, other than they just don't want to do it. Stubborn refusal to share information outside own group? Incompetence? Unwilling to do what's right?Perhaps the person(s) can't see the big picture or unwilling to for whatever reason. I just don't know. And the worst thing is I don't think this agency sharing information problem will get solved anytime soon. This refusal to share information, and anything else that would benefit group or effort, often happens in the work place, espec
  5. Here is a link to a news story about how many many people in Washington state, and also mentioning the Gresham Oregon (Eastern suburb of Portland) family I referred to earlier, are suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning from trying to stay warm during recent storm and it's power outages. Heartbreaking that it has killed one and others including children are so sick. Many suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning due to improper generator/charcoal grill use Another story on the storm, including another safety hazzard, CANDLES, that killed 2 people on Oregon Coast. So many times fires are caus
  6. Thanks everyone, and hugs to all , especially Mac!!! Hubby heard today the power was back on for most, if not all, the Beaverton folks affected by the burning substation, their power was switched from other substations around the area, and as of early this morning the fire was still burning. The overworked people on those line crews all over the state must have really been discouraged when that transformer at substation exploded!!! They have been working so hard and so many long hours to get everyone's power back up. Praise God for their valiant efforts in all kinds of weather!!! Here is a
  7. Praise God, for the good report on the mole, and that your wife is better too. Yes there is a God and He loves you and everyone else!!! John3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life". Hallelujah!!! Pat God bless everyone
  8. I am so ashamed of our state and county search efforts being so hampered by miscommunication, even at times no cross communication, between agencies!!! I am not letting off the federal government either since the BLM was part of problem with gates not being shut and locked on Nov 1st as employees were directed to do but they decided on own not to do it and didn't tell their superiors they didn't do their job and why not, and should be fired in my opinion!!! Today's Sunday Oregonian has a long heartbreaking article on the search and what went wrong!!! Perhaps if there had been a coordinated app
  9. Just heard breaking Ch12 news that a transformer exploded and now a substation is on fire in Beaverton, a suburb west of Portland. Yikes!!! So another 50, 000 people with no power, at least for a few hours until they can switch out power from other substations, sure hope that doesn't bring more trouble elsewhere!!! Just saw your post Liz after I posted this, bless you my friend!!! Pat God bless everyone

  12. Hello dear friend, Thanks so much for the prayers!!! Yes we have had some nasty weather, November broke all records for rain amounts, then a break for a week or so in Dec, then back to more rain. Oh yes had a spell of real cold nasty temps and a dusting of snow for a few days too, and snow flurries again possible tonight. Then just to spice things up, the other day we had one of the worst wind storms in many years for the NW. I think we probably had sustained winds here at the peak of storm around 60mph, with gusts maybe as high as 70. Many areas of metro area had lots of trees, power poles an

  16. Sorry about just now playing catch up on 2 or 3 weeks of threads. This is such an important thread. Thanks for reminding everyone to use heaters etc safely!!! Be sure there is plenty of open space around them!!! Read how much the manufacturer says to do, then add an additional foot or more to what it says, just to be safe!!! By the way, whatever happened to the law requiring all space heaters to have tipover turn offs? This law was in effect in the early 70's. But we bought a couple of oil filled radiant heat space heaters this year and also got a couple of free little multiple-setting fan for

  22. TT, I am so sorry to hear of your tool (s) being stolen, am betting it was more than one gone once you keep on checking/remembering what you had there as greedy thieves usually take big and small stuff both. I get so mad at thieves of all stripes, I just end up sputtering...not even able cuss, which is good I guess.... but oh how if I catch them in the act can I ever tell them off!!! Over the years, we have had the company's and our work tools stolen out of car, and have had home tools and more that just "walk off" etc. It never gets any easier to understand how people can steal from others, e

  25. Hi everyone, More coffee woes... hiting the pot's on switch in the morning then coming back after shower to find out I forgot to put coffee grounds in the night before..only water that is now hot...ugh!!! Tricky thing, our memory!!! Now for what happened today, being woken up at 3:30 AM by a screeching alarm next door. Didn't know if it was a serious alarm about something in his workshop/garage, or ??? But very loud monotone that just went on and on and on and on and he didn't do anything about it. One neighbor tried to wake him up at his front door after checking out his backyard and determin
