  2. thanks for your reply and all your help However I can confirm that I do have an anitivirus installed as well as a firewall: Mc afee securitycenter is on my system I also have Spybot-SD resident and I am using Malwarebytes' antimalware which sits on the tray; do you want me to remove the Malwarebytes from startup? Will I still need the others you mentioned? Regards Mamoun

Hi Guys Thanks for all your support here and I really hope that you will be able to help me with this serious issue: I have a sony vaio laptop loaded with VISTA ULTIMATE edition SP1, 2GB RAM, 120GB hard disk. I recently got infected with a trojan (Mc afee antivirus detected this and deleted it, well i thought it did! the name mentioned was vendu). Shortly after this, I noticed a problem with the microsoft automatic update, always disabled, and cannot enable it anymore, even through SERVICES. Also, Mozilla firefox cannot run anymore even in safe mode. Finally, the IE browser always redirect me
