  1. I have CodeStuff starter, so I keep it down to AVG stuff, and volume. That's about it. (My router has a firewall so I don't need ZA)
  2. When I reboot, or if the pc has been off and I start it, there is nothing on the desktop. I do the "control-alt-delete", go into "user" and logoff that way. After 2 or 3 times, I get everything back. I always know when it's gonna happen, cause it takes 2-3 full minutes to go from the scrolling bar Win XP screen to the Welcome screen. It stays grey in between. Ideas?
  3. It never drops the connection, but there are sites I can't even play on. Like Pokerstars (hubby). You go there, and you lag so bad, it kicks you out. If I hook it up to straight cable, it's fine. I'm really starting to think this router is just not "powerful" enough. I have other Belkin products that work fine, but this is just too slow. It takes forever to change pages from one site to another. I usually have to hit stop and reload, then it's ok. I'm also having another problem with this pc that is unrelated to that, but I will start another thread. (I swear this thing is gonna drive me nuts
  4. The model number is:FSD7230-4 When I do the pathping in cmd window, it says OK 100% all the way down..........
  5. Let me ask you this: can I just hook up a second cable modem upstairs? Or can't you have 2 on the same account? (Roadrunner)
  6. Ok, I did that, and everything looked ok, how do I copy what is in the cmd box to here? It won't let me copy and paste, it just clears the highlight. (I pinged You tube, cause when I try to watch any video from any source, it just stops, never did that before.)
  7. The only thing I do know is the ip addy is correct. The others I don't know how to do
  8. Ever since I hooked up this Belkin, I seem to have trouble. I can't watch a video, cause it stops a couple minutes in, some pages take forever to load, some not at all. Is it compromising the connection? Is it fixable?
  9. I don't have McAfee, just AVG. Same problem, maybe? I don't know....
  10. I've done that 9 times, and it still is not working-needless to say, I'm getting alittle ticked.
  11. I did a search, and couldn't find anything. Anyway, I have the router hooked up, card in the other PC, and all is working-except printer sharing. I turned it on in both PC's, but when I type the name in, it tells me it can't find it. Is there a way to start over from the beginning, so I can do this right? (Steps would help). TIA!
  12. It said to make sure the account name is my email addy, which it is. It also said to make sure the authentication is unchecked, it is. And one other thing, that I can't remember. So, should I change the POP 3 server?
  13. I have internet connection, but I still get this stupid code. I googled it, did what they said, and I still get it. Ideas?? The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop-server.neo.rr.com', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
  14. Thank you, just what i needed.
  15. It's too slow. Is it just me? Anyway, if I wanted to go back to what I had (6), how do I get rid of 7?
  16. The only thing tho, like I said earlier, is it did it with DSL also, so could it be in the pc somewhere?
  17. Robroy, that's the kind I have. Good to know it's not just mine. Rebooting isn't hard, it's just a pain in the butt. So, a hard reset will fix the problem, at least for awhile?
  18. I connect directly from cable modem, USB, it's a Motorola, if that makes a difference.....
  19. After my pc sits for awhile, usually on the welcome screen, it can't find the web. It started when I had DSL, but does it now with cable, which blows my DSL to blame theory. After I reboot, it will be fine.Any ideas? emachine T2042/xp
  20. You're right. Thanks! I know it wasn't spybot before, but it will work now.
  21. Well, I thank you for that. I d/l'd it, went thru all the help file, but can't see it in there. Maybe that wasn't it, or I just can't spot it...................
  22. It's been too long, and I'm too old. How do you change the wording on top of the browser where it says "Microsoft Internet Explorer"? I know as soon as I see it, I'll say...that's right...duhhhh
  23. Apparently that's not the problem. No matter what configuration I tried, I still got the message.
  24. It is "Simply Money", and it says it is XP compatible. I got it from someone that has a brand new laptop, also XP Home, and it works fine. This is the message window I get when I try to install it: 16 Bit Windows Subsystem C:\Windows/Systems32\Autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose close to terminate. Close Ignore I hit ignore, it still doesn't do anything. So, why does it work on his XP Home, and not mine?
  25. The pc is about 3-4 years old, the floppy is never used, and the disk we tried to put in is new.
