    thanks for the quick help. i have no restore points as i thought my laptop made them automatically. if i procede with using the vista repair, will this affect any data on my hard drive. ?

    HEY NOW, I ACCIDENTLY CHANGED MY .DLL THAT OPENED FROM UNKOWN APPLICATIONS TO NOW OPEN WITH THE SOUND RECORDER. THIS HAS LEFT MY DLL LIBRARY FULL OF DLL'S THAT USE THE SOUND RECORDER TO OPEN. HOW TO I CHANGE THE DLL PROPERTIES BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS, OPENING WITH AN UNKNOWN PROGRAM????
