  2. Haha, thanks. It's pretty amazing how you can read and understand all that stuff. My computer does seem to running a lot smoother. But the updates from HP error message persists.....! I'm starting to think that maybe it's not my computer?? Anyway, about the online scanner, I opened IE and went to run it, but I kept getting the error message "Insufficient rights to use ActiveX controls! Please check your user rights and Internet Explorer security settings" and then the thing freezes. Um? I don't ever use IE anyway.. Do you want me to just post a fresh HijackThis log?

  4. Yeah, there is a main there but it is completely empty. However, I found another file called "moved.txt" which kind of looks like it might be what you're looking for. How that happened I have absolutely no idea, but here it is: Directories/Files moved to C:\Deckard\System Scanner\backup 2007-04-03 20:08:51 0 --a------ C:\DOCUME~1\HP_Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\$27741BB3.t$m 2007-02-28 22:00:13 2128 --a------ C:\DOCUME~1\HP_Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\%CUUNI000.2007Feb28-190013.LOG 2007-02-28 22:12:57 2113 --a------ C:\DOCUME~1\HP_Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\%CUUNI000.2007Feb28-191257.LOG 2005-11-02
  5. Thank you so much for your help, but the error about updates from HP is still showing up on startup =( VundoFix didn't find anything..... "VundoFix V6.7.7 Checking Java version... Scan started at 4:53:43 PM 1/8/2008 Listing files found while scanning.... No infected files were found. Beginning removal..." And nothing showed up on "main.txt" from DSS at all. "extra.txt" is attached. Here is my new HijackThis log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 7:42:40 PM, on 1/8/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16574) Boot mode: Nor
  6. Okay, well I treat my computer really well, rarely download anything at all, and I can usually solve minor problems myself. However, lately I've been getting an error message on startup everyday saying "Updates from HP is unable to access its data directory. It is either invalid or unreachable, or there is another program accessing it." Also, my browser Mozilla Firefox has been crashing a lot. I scanned my computer with Comodo, but it found nothing. So I ran HijackThis (the log is posted below) and I was wondering if anything could help me out? It would be most appreciated =) I have windows XP
