  1. Thank you all for the warm wishes on my birthday, April 27th. Sorry I was not around for a few days to thank you earlier. Wow! 57 this time around. Am I going downhill yet, or still uphill. I think uphill. That would explain why I'm usually tired (ha ha ha). Thanks again, Rich
  2. As Iccaros stated, Verizon told me three times to uninstall SP2. I first installed it from the CD sent by M$. Totally messed up my linksys router BEFW11S4 settings to the point that I lost internet completely. After uninstall, all was OK. Second time, tried the download from M$ update. Same problem. Uninstalled SP2 and again up and running. Third time, disconnected router and used M$ firewall only to reinstall. Still no good. Finally, I had $40.00 in Best Buy Coupons, and purchased XP Home Upgrade with SP2. Previously had pre-installed Compaq with XP Home. (used old copy of Win 98 CD for upgra
  3. I had a lot of trouble setting up my network. I am using a Linksys BEFW11S4 router and at the time I had a D-Link PCI card in my daughters computer upstairs. Verizon said it was compatable, so I went ahead. No good. I called tech support again, and they sent me to a Linksys site, http://kb.linksys.com, which whisked me away to another site I dont remember, but they configured the router from there for me (remotely), and they suggested I purchase a Linksys card for upstairs comp. (of course, but it did work), and I have not had a problem yet, even though only running about a month so far. Any
  4. I would like to see software that would automatically skim 0.1 percent off the top of all million dollar plus accounts, and place it in an account, preferable not run by any government, to feed, clothe, educate and provide medical care, etc., for needy children the world over. I dont think thats asking too much. Rich
  5. Thanks Il_wiccan for another great tip. Years ago, I used to go out every July, and purchase a 5th for the 4th on the 3rd. I thought this was prefetching. haha Computer seems to start up faster, although I have not timed it. thanks again, Rich

    Bad Mood Day

Thats the best news I have heard on the board since TK getting released and doing OK. Keep it up, go for it. Good luck. Rich
  7. rgarg113 for me and my wifes initials, Rich G. and Ruth G., with home addy of 113. Picked it back in 94, when AOL was refusing anything it did not like, kept throwing names and inititals out, just hit on this, and have stuck with it since. Lost AOHell after a year, and do not miss them. With Verizon DSL now, and love it. Also loving this board. Thanks B., and thanks for those who have migrated here from G4techtv also. Rich
