  1. latest screenshot of my Ubuntu 6.06 desktop.
  2. If you use IE, you can always use office live basics by MS. all free. comes with a very generic wysiwyg editor on the site. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeli...1534261033.aspx As typical with MS, they require the use of IE and have successfully managed to block all other browsers from being able to access it. You will need to use your MS passport info just like logging into hotmail to use this. if you don't have a passport you can create one. 3. The only difference between the Mac and the PC is keyboard shortcuts that are used. For example in Flash the layout is exactly the same, the rendering is the same etc... but the keyboard shortcuts are different. macs can require up to 3 keys to do the same as the ctrl-(key) combo
  4. I ran into a similar problem with Ubuntu after I moved here and went on cable broadband, here is how I fixed it. I got my info from WinXP for my connection using start>network connections>hihglighted the ethernet connection and looked in the left frame at the bottom for my subnet mask, IP, and Gateway address. In Ubuntu I opened the eth0 properties dialog and manually entred the same info. System>admin tools>networking. Highlight the ethernet connection and click on Properties make sure that the check mark for making it active is checked, then choose static IP instead of DHCP. Cabl
  5. It is. That's why this has to be People and not Bots IMO. AFAIK, nobody has made a bot that can read the image and respond correctly to it, since the fonts used are not commonly recognized. I've even had some that I couldn't read myself sometimes, and had to re-register to get to one that I could read...yeesh! I've been floating around the board for a while and just noticed this thread. Dave is actually incorrect about nobody making bots that can read the image. they are out there. I'm not going to give links here for obvious reasons, however they do exist. I found one a couple of weeks ago f
  6. They still do, but their licenses with Microsoft restricts how they can advertise it, and requires them to put up the message saying , Dell recommends windows XP Right! If you do a bit of digging at Dell you can find some servers that hint about Linux, but, there isn't any direct hype about Linux. M$ has a lock on Dell. Perhaps as more people want Linux/Unix then Dell will provide it. This will take time. aaarrrggghhh http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global....;l=en&s=biz it's too bad they are only showing it offered on their Servers. Now if they would start mainstreaming it on
  7. Wow...yeah, I've never even touched ASP, so this really is over my head. Seriously, any help will be appreciated..... Thank you. well not much luck on finding ways to get Flash to work with MySQL without a lot of AS2.0. What languages do you know besides flash, and html?
  8. we got about an 1/8 of an inch here in Des Moines, IA. I'm looking out my window now and almost all of it is melted already. What is left will be gone today. I'm not complaining, up in Algona which is 3 counties north of me, got 13 inches of it. The thing that really cracks me up when it comes to winter, and I'm just as guilty, is people complaining about the snow if they in the northern half of the country. Why is it that we live here, and complain about the snow? If we don't like it why don't we all move south where it's warmer?
  9. Yes, I have access to the MySQL database, and I have a pretty basic understanding of how PHP works. I'm pretty well aware that this is not going to be an easy task, but I'm trying to find the easiest way to do it. ZenCart support basically said I'd have to create my own feed and insert it myself....however, the more I look into this, the more I'm starting to think I need to find someone that's better with programming and such. While I can do a few things with actionscript, this is pretty much beyond my capabilities. Umm...any badass flash developers out there? I looked at Zazzle and uber
  10. hello Lotus, unfortunately you won't find a Flash template for what you are looking for that is free. Also will you have access to their MySQL database and do you understand PHP very clearly? What you will have to do is make a flash file that calls a PHP file so the MySQL Database can be called upon with the information. So in essence, you need to make 2 separate files to acheive one thing. and this will require some advanced AS2.0 to be able to succeed.
  11. I have combined these two topics since they are the same issue. would you please make a new hijack this log, as the most recent one I see on this is 5/11/06. This will not give us an accurate view of what is going on with your computer since it is 6 months old. I have also looked at the logs you have posted at other pc tech boards and there you are also using old copies of Hijack this log. That is why nothing they are having you to do is working. and all of them are in the last week.
  12. my latest ones I did. I have a tutorial for this one on my site.
  13. Since this issue appears to be resolved ... this Topic has been closed. Glad we could help. If you're the topic starter, and need this topic reopened, please contact a staff member with the address of the thread. Everyone else please begin a New Topic.
  14. This is the section I look at in those. The entry under "Start" is the first call it found. The entry under "End" is the second call it found. The module Name "nt" tells me what section of the software the error occured. in This case the NT means it was not software related.
  15. Are you still getting the pop ups that you mentioned earlier? If not, then your system is clean What you had was a version of PurityScan adware installed
  16. as far as I can tell your log is clean, I would recommend talking to one of our techs in the PC-Support Forums section as this is not a malware related issue.
  17. sorry BubbaBob, I missed one on my previous review, run Hijack This again and check this entry and then, making sure you have No Internet Explorer Windows open, including this one, Press the "Fix Checked" Button with HijackThis. Reboot If I have specified below, and Post a Fresh HijackThis log. O2 - BHO: (no name) - {39f25b12-74ff-4079-a51f-1d70f5b08b84} - D:\WINDOWS\system32\ixt2.dll After this, Reboot into safe mode and Delete the following file: D:\WINDOWS\system32\ixt2.dll
  18. This may help you in figuring out what your looking for in a common dumpchk log. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314084 btw, when I googled this entry it points to a RAM issue. 804d4000
  19. Please look over the Following Entries I have listed, run Hijack This again and check them and then, making sure you have No Internet Explorer Windows open, including this one, Press the "Fix Checked" Button with HijackThis. Reboot If I have specified below, and Post a Fresh HijackThis log. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ipWins] D:\Program Files\ipwins\ipwins.exe After this, Reboot into safe mode (This can be done by tapping F8 while your machine restarts) and Delete the following files: D:\WINDOWS\system32\ishost.exe D:\WINDOWS\system32\isnotify.exe D:\WINDOWS\system32\issearch.exe D:\WINDOWS\system32\is
  20. hi bubba, Give me a sec to research the log and we will get you all cleaned up
  21. I was looking for one of these and found it. Luckily I denied any outgoing service connections from it in my firewall. Thank you kpf I still have the infected file on my machine, although it is in quarantine by Anti-Vir, my antivirus program. this is a nasty little bugger I found, even doing a system restore doesn't get rid of it all. It hooks itself into other programs to try and stay alive. I'm compiling a list of those files soon, after I find them all, so we know what all they are affecting. if you get told you need a codec pack called TrueCodec, don't install it, this is the one I'm wo
  22. You said this was a refubished computer. Any company worth their salt would already have SP2 installed before selling the machine. Even a brand new machine comes with SP2 pre-installed. at most you might have to just do the most recent updates. say the ones in last 2 or 3 months. Refurbished units rarely are on the shelf for longer than that. I also have to agree with Rhema7, That machine does need more Ram. I would highly recommend a minimum of 512MB of Ram in that machine to get a decent run on the processor and to really enjoy using WinXP
  23. Iccaros sorry to pop in here, but I think I see the problems already. She is not using the standard Ubuntu Repos. I think when she went to close out automatix she hit cancel instead of ok and kept the sources list from automatix which uses different repos. @Mychal007, I have attached a file to this post, download this file to your desktop. This will overwrite your current sources.list file to the correct one to use for Ubuntu Breezy Badger, which it seems you are running. If you are using Dapper Drake or Warty Warthog, don't use this. but let me know so I can get you the correct sources.list
  24. Dual boot with Ubuntu 6.0 LTS, adn Win XP. I have used DSL, Debian, Suse, and FC4.
  25. an online area for tutorials would also be going to http://www.pixel2life.com
