TextExpander is one of our favorite productivity apps for the Mac. TextExpander lets you avoid typing the same thing over and over again, without having to copy and paste anything. The app allows you to create snippets that can be triggered by typing a particular abbreviation that you set. For example, I could have TextExpander turn the abbreviation “btweb” (without the quotes) into http://www.besttechie.com.
Of course, you can also use it to produce much longer responses as well, which could be very useful for providing tech support. I use it a lot when replying to people who have similar questions, it saves me a lot of time. In fact, I’ve built quite the list of canned TextExpander responses over the years. Plus, one thing I really love about the app is it’s ability to sync my snippets with Dropbox, so I can access them on any computer that I have TextExpander installed on.
Bottom line: if you find yourself typing the same message over and over, TextExpander is an app you need. I highly recommend downloading the free trial and testing it out, if you like what you see, you can purchase it for $34.95.
They also have an iOS version called TextExpander Touch, which you can buy on the App Store.
