Are These “Leaked” iPhone 6 Specs For Real?

Apple steadfastly refuses to announce the iPhone 6, despite the fact that we who live on the Internet continue to demand it. To fill that void, we have to subsist on a steady diet of rumors and “leaks,” no matter how repetitive or possibly false they might be. Earlier this week, KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, who we’ve heard from before regarding Amazon’s reported foray into the smartphone business, offered details about what he says are leaked specifications for Apple’s forthcoming smartphone. Are they the real deal?

According to a post on Macrumors, Kuo has provided some hard data that he says will show up in the iPhone 6’s two models. That’s right, the analyst is keeping hope of two differently sized iPhone 6 models alive with these “leaks.” His sources tell him that the 4.7-inch model will sport a 1334×750 Retina display with a resolution of 326 pixels per inch. The larger, near-phablet iPhone 6 will clock in with a display of 5.5 inches, with a 1920×1080 screen and 401 pixel-per-inch resolution. And both will be supremely thin—roubly 6.5 to 7 millimeters, more than half a millimeter thinner than the iPhone 5 line of devices.

What else? The sleep/wake button will be on the side to allow users to operate their devices with just one hand. Meanwhile, the guts of the iPhone 6 will have an A8 processor, 1GB of RAM, and Touch ID. Finally, the larger of the two models is expected to debut later during the holiday season of 2014. The post doesn’t mention the release of the smaller model, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it came out this summer close to WWDC in June.

All things considered, 1GB of RAM seems a bit skimpy, mainly because that’s the same amount found in all three models of the iPhone 5. Wouldn’t it be logical if the iPhone 6 boosted the RAM under the hood? The HTC One M8 has 2GB of RAM, as does the Samsung Galaxy S5. But, I suppose RAM size isn’t the main factor when someone decides to buy an iPhone, is it?

All in all, some of these predictions ring true, but on the whole, we simply can’t know until Apple lifts the curtain. What do you think? Are you into an iPhone 6 with these specs?
