Apple “Accidentally” Leaks iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 Details

Just about an hour or so after Google announced its newest Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices, it seems that Apple made the mistake of posting images of instructions for the newest versions of its iPad tablet devices – which are set to be revealed at a press event tomorrow.

Spotted by 9to5Mac, it seems that earlier today Apple posted screenshots of the iOS 8.1 iPad user guide, which featured details about the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3. Since then, the instructions have been taken down, but not before quick-thinking bloggers grabbed the screenshot on the right (click to enlarge).

So what can we learn about the new iPads? Well, they’ll feature Touch ID-equipped home buttons, and the iPad Air 2 will feature Burst style photo capabilities, allowing users to take lots of pictures in rapid fire. The other main point to take away here, of course, is the fact that the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 are confirmed to be hitting the stage during tomorrow’s event.

It’ll be interesting to see whether there are going to be any other announcements with regard to the iPad. Previously I’d been thinking that Apple might announce an iPad Pro, which we’ve heard rumored for a little while. But then I started to realize that announcing a bigger and better version of the iPad that isn’t available yet might hurt the sales of the aforementioned iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3. I don’t know anything, though, so maybe we’ll still see it during the event tomorrow.

What do you think? Did Apple “accidentally” leak these new iPads today right after Google’s own tablet announcement to make sure its fans know what’s coming tomorrow?
