Amazon Developing New Gadgets, Including Smartphone With 3D Screen

The WSJ just reported that Amazon is currently developing several new gadgets, including a smartphone with a 3D screen. According to a number of WSJ sources, the company has recently been developing an entirely new lineup of gadgets, including two smartphones and an audio-only streaming device.

One of the devices is said to be a smartphone featuring a screen that allows for 3D images without glasses by utilizing retina-tracking technology, which would allow images on the smartphone to appear as if they are float above the screen like a hologram, and making them look 3D at all angles. Additionally according to the sources, the smartphone may allow customers to navigate through content using just their eyes.

Obviously this news comes after the recent report that they are also working on an Amazon set-top box for streaming content to you TV.

It’s worth noting that while it’s entirely possible Amazon is in fact working on developing these products (as many companies due with their R&D departments), it may never release them due to financial or performance concerns.  However, that being said, we are talking about Amazon, a company, that has no problems selling hardware at a loss if it means they will make it up in sales of other things like content and products.

We’ll definitely keep an eye on this story and will update as we learn anything new.
