3 industries that virtual reality is growing in 2020

As technology continues to develop exponentially year on year, more and more of us are seeing the high-tech become a key part of day to day life.

One area of technology that is growing particularly quickly is that of Virtual Reality or VR, an exciting simulated experience that challenges our very idea of what reality looks like.

This technology is being applied in some industries more intensely than others. In this article, we will take a look at three industries that virtual reality is growing in 2020 and how exactly technology has impacted these industries.

Film and entertainment

With VR cinema becoming a very real possibility in the near future, the film and entertainment industry looks all set to be shaken up by this pioneering new technology. Viewers will be able to enjoy an immersive experience like nothing before as they are flung headfirst (literally) into the action of their favorite blockbusters and tv shows. Already, major Hollywood studios are investing millions into the development of special 360-degree cameras that will film some of the world’s first VR movies! Imagine visiting the cinema and being chased by a dragon or racing in a supercar or, even, having a one on one chat with some of the world’s biggest movie stars. That’s the power of VR and we could be seeing that kind of experience sooner than you would think.

Online gambling

Offering an immersive gambling experience unlike anything else, VR is set to change the way people use online gambling sites forever. Where this technology is truly special is that it is able to provide people with the ability to enjoy a true casino experience right from the comfort of their couch! However, it is not just in the casino sector that VR is changing how people gamble, with horse racing also making forays into the technology. In fact, it is expected that in 2020 players will be able to place a bet before watching the horse race as if they were there!

In addition, VR is set to bring more players than ever to online gambling, with the new technology providing great crossover appeal. Real-time communication and ease of customization are two more elements of VR that are sure to hand a massive boost to the online gambling industry. Sports

The first thing you might think of when it comes to sports and virtual reality is the development of immersive technology that allows viewers to be either at or in the game/race they are enjoying from home. Well, you would be right, with clubs and organizations pumping millions into the creation of such technology. Yet VR is also revolutionizing sports in other ways, such as in cutting-edge training methods that mimic in-game situations on the training pitch. Certainly, the international sports industry looks set to fully embrace the possibilities of both virtual reality broadcasting and immersive training protocols in the coming year.

Bonus: Conferences

While this may not happen in 2020 it’s certainly on our radar here at BestTechie. The possibility that conferences can be held in VR is something that I don’t think should be overlooked. In fact, I’m surprised that Facebook (which owns Oculus) didn’t decide to host its annual developer conference, f8, in VR this year after canceling it due to the Coronavirus outbreak. To be honest, it seems like a missed opportunity.

VR-hosted conferences seem like a great way to expand your audience, you don’t have to worry about physical space constraints and it also opens the door for people who may not otherwise be able to afford to attend.
