11 ways to make your sales strategy more effective

Are you getting the feeling that your current sales strategy just isn’t working as well for you as it could be? Don’t waste anymore time – use the 11 tricks below to amp up your strategy and make it more effective. You’d be surprised at how much better your results can get.

1. Talk About The Results

It’s important to remember that people don’t buy products – they buy the results a product can give them. Always focus on discussing the benefits and results of buying a product, rather than the product itself. You want to let the person know how much this product could change their life and make it easier. They will imagine themselves with the product, and this is what will make them want to purchase it, every time.

2. Have A Clear Image/Profile Of The Customer

You can’t accurately what to say if you don’t have a clear image of who the customer is. Creating customer profiles will give you a better idea of what you should be saying and how you can appeal to your market. Ask relevant questions so you can come up with these profiles, such as:

  • How old are they?
  • Are they single?
  • What is their family situation?
  • What is their job?
  • How much money do the make?
  • What gender are they?

When you figure out the above, you can make a few profiles and figure out the best way to approach your customer.

3. Figure Out What Makes You Unique

What is your competitive advantage? Why is your product better than similar products on the market? You must know the answer to this if you’re going to have an effective sales strategy. Knowing what sets you apart from the rest and making sure everybody else knows it is essential.

4. Take Your Time Determining The Right Price

Determining the right price for your product/service is something you should take your time with. You need to carefully research your competitors and then come up with pricing you feel is right for you. You don’t want to be the cheapest out there – unless being the ‘budget’ brand is your thing. You need to make sure you’re making a profit. Don’t be scared of putting people off. If they really want what you’re selling, they’ll pay what you’re charging. Pricing your services too low is one of the biggest mistakes that business owners tend to make.

5. Use Platforms And Software To Help You

There are all kinds of platforms and pieces of software out there that can help you to sell more.

Sales enablement software, for example, is an easy way you can have all of the information you need in one place. This allows you to provide a much better service to the customer, and as a result, you’ll make more sales. Of course they care about the benefits of the product, but they also want to feel like the overall experience from you and your company is enjoyable. It isn’t just about the product, so focus on the experience and how you can make it better.

6. Nurture Customer Relationships

Any customer that chooses to work with you should be somebody that stays with you forever. You do this by nurturing your relationships with them. Make sure you have this view right from the beginning. You can begin to personalize your interactions with them right away, and even use CRM software to ensure that you are doing everything you need to keep them interested.

7. Share Valuable Content

Sharing valuable content shows that you know what you’re talking about. Rather than giving people the information they need to do things alone and decide not to work with you, they will be more likely to work with you as they can see you’re an expert in your niche. They’ll appreciate the content you put out, and they will likely return time and time again to see what you have to say on the industry and anything pertaining to it. Create blogs, vlogs, infographics, and anything else you think they might be interested in. Share them on your social channels and encourage others to share them, too.

8. Give Things Away For Free

Be generous. Give out discounts, offers, and even freebies with orders. You could even run competitions to get people following you and signing up for your newsletter. Give people an incentive to want to work with you and make them offers they can’t refuse. Have offers for newcomers, and offers for those who haven’t shopped with you for a while. Competitions are a great way to build up your social media following and build your brand – just make sure you stick to any rules and regulations outlined

9. Always Aim To Provide A Customer With True Value

Whether a customer has decided to contact you for advice over the phone or via chat, always aim to provide them with true value. You don’t want to sell for the sake of selling – this can lead to returns, unhappy customers, and a bad reputation. When you really listen to what they want and do your best to help them, results will be so much better.

10. Assess Your Conversions And Results Every Month

Find a way to keep track of your conversions and results and assess them each month. This way, you can figure out what else to incorporate and/or change and see how it works for you. A month is a reasonable amount of time to see results, just don’t change too much at once as it can be difficult to decipher where the changes are coming from.

11. Be Honest And Authentic

Make honesty and authenticity one of your brand values. If you make a mistake, own up to it. Customers will appreciate it so much more when you are honest with them. If you’re selling a product, don’t mislead the customer. Again, this will ultimately lead to a bad reputation.
