What Does Your Phone Case Say About You?

So you’ve got a new phone. And you love it more than anything else in the whole world.

That’s what it’s like with new phones, right? They are things of great beauty and perfection that you want to stand on a plinth, surrounded by cushions, in a temperature-controlled room protected by security guards with lasers, accessible only by your fair hands.

In short, when you get a new phone, you want to look after it, in order to keep it in that brand new condition, help it to perform at its best [...]

Nintendo Making Mobile Games, Teases Next “NX” Console

After famously refusing for years to bring its popular gaming portfolio to mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, Nintendo announced on Tuesday its partnership with Japan’s DeNA—one of the nation’s top mobile game publishers—to start making mobile games. In an interesting twist, Nintendo says that it will bring its popular intellectual properties to mobile platforms—but the games in which they’ll appear will be brand new, and not ports of older, popular titles.

“In order to create completely new game experiences for [...]

Late last year, both Android and iPhone users were able to enjoy pretty considerable mobile operating system upgrades in the form of Android 5 and iOS 8, respectively. Now, it seems that significant upgrades to both operating systems will be hitting handsets very shortly, if recent reports across the web are any indication.

Windows 10: Event Tomorrow, Mobile Preview February

Tomorrow, Microsoft will be holding an event to unveil the next pieces of its Windows 10 strategy. Since late last year, Microsoft has been working with users to shake the kinks out of Windows 10, via a Technical Preview that went live months before the planned consumer release of the new operating system. According to a report on ZDNet, it seems as though Microsoft will be going that same route for its mobile platform, as it’s expected to release a preview of Windows 10 mobile next month.

According to the post, while tomorrow’s [...]

Happy Sunday, everyone! Thanks for stopping by for this edition of the Weekend Wrap-Up, where we look at the top tech stories of the past week.

Both Apple and Google made headlines during the past seven days. Let’s find out why.

Apple May Release New 4-Inch iPhone for Females

Nokia Teases…Something for November 18

Last year, Nokia entered into talks to sell its smartphone division to Microsoft, a sale that was completed just a few months ago. While it’s easy to say simply that “Microsoft bought Nokia,” since Nokia was primarily known as a smartphone maker, the truth is that the rest of Nokia still exists, separate and apart from Microsoft – and apparently, they’re making something new and different that’ll be revealed tomorrow.

This morning, Nokia published the following Tweet:

Guess what? We’re up to something. [...]

Amazon VP States the Obvious: Company ‘Didn’t Get the Price Right’ for Fire Phone

Amazon isn’t a company that is used to failing in spectacular fashion. It’s the largest retailer in the world. It has a healthy digital marketplace for music and videos. It sells a best-in-class e-reading device. And its Kindle Fire tablets have found a decent audience.

But its Fire Phone has been, thus far, a disaster. And now an Amazon VP is pretty much confirming it as such.

Vice President of Devices David Limp granted an interview to Fortune; in it, he admitted that the company “didn’t get the [...]

No Apple SIM in iPhones, Says Apple Exec

In this year’s iPads, Apple introduced us to a brand new spin on the carrier SIM card — the Apple SIM. This single card was built to support multiple carriers, enabling consumers to switch between wireless data providers as they please.

It’s a neat concept. But you can pretty much forget about seeing the Apple SIM in iPhones — at least for the time being.

According to Greg Joswiak, Apple’s VP of iPhone, iPod and iOS product marketing, the Apple SIM doesn’t make as much sense in the [...]

Weekend Wrap-Up: Lots of Apple News; Yahoo to Close the Directory

Happy Sunday, folks!

I typically try to shy away from covering a whole lot about one company in these Wrap-Ups. Unfortunately, not a whole lot happened this week, and Apple made the headlines quite a bit; for both good and bad reasons.

Yahoo made the news, too, though I’m sure it would rather not have. Let’s find out why.

Apple Breaks Records, iPhone 6 Sales Top 10 Million

The iPhone 6 broke pre-order records this year, so it shouldn’t be a big surprise that Apple now has more news on broken [...]
