All Customer Service Should Be Like This

Yesterday I had jury duty for the first time in my life. Yesterday was also the day I was expecting my Milanese Loop band to be delivered from Apple. So as you can imagine the fact that I knew when I got home yesterday I’d be welcomed by my shiny brand new Apple Watch band is what kept me sane throughout the day at jury duty.

Anyway, at about 3PM I got a notification saying it had been delivered. Yay! When I finally got home, I went directly to the package room and started [...]

Android M to Give Users More Privacy Controls

That didn’t take long: hot on the heels of Google’s tacit confirmation that Android M would make an appearance at I/O later this month, Bloomberg reported that the new version of the mobile OS would offer greater control over a smartphone’s privacy settings.

According to the report, some Google insiders say that Android M will “give users more detailed choices over what aps can access,” which includes “photos, contacts or location.” That’s significant since so many apps that users [...]

1st Nintendo Smartphone Game Slated for Late 2015

Nintendo outlined some more specifics in its plans to begin developing smartphone and tablet games on Friday, announcing via its latest financial results briefing that the first such title would hit before the end of this calendar year. We can also expect to see a total of five games by March of 2017.

From Under the Hood to Over Your Roof: Powerwall, Tesla’s Solar Solution

According to Elon Musk, your home’s sustainable energy solutions shouldn’t be limited to a wood burning stove and candlelight. Imagine instead a rechargeable battery that draws power from sunlight during the day and provides that electricity throughout the night and into the next morning. Then, as sun rises anew, the cell recharges, and the cycle continues for as long as the cell is maintained. Musk described this innovative battery system at the unveiling of [...]

We’re eight months into Destiny, and Xur is finally selling one of the most rare exotic weapons. Before you get your hopes up, no, it’s not Gjallarhorn. It’s something highly sought after, though — the mighty Thunderlord.

Destiny’s Xur is Selling Thunderlord

Thunderlord is a high-impact, high-accuracy machine gun that does nasty, nasty Arc damage. I’ve been watching the Destiny reddit page go crazy over the realization that this weapon is on [...]

Google I/O Schedule Points to Android M Debut

Just as Apple’s annual WWDC conference will descend upon us before we know it, Google’s own I/O conference is also just around the corner, where we’re likely to hear about all kinds of new Android-based initiatives. A post on 9to5Google went to the trouble of sifting through the just-posted event schedule and sussed out some of the tastier tidbits we might see—including Android M, even.

The dissection links back to an earlier post, which offers up a description of the “Android for [...]

Judges Call NSA Metadata Collection Illegal

The latest legal pronouncement regarding the government’s collection of our phone metadata is in, as a federal court of appeals in New York has ruled that it is illegal for the NSA to do what it’s been doing with impunity for the last few years.

We’ve been fighting this fight for a while now…

The court’s three judges ruled unanimously, reported the New York Times on Thursday. The ruling explained that Section 215 of the Patriot Act—the [...]
