  1. Drafting Guys Over 60 This is funny & obviously written by a Former Soldier... New Direction for any war: Send Service Vets over 60! I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35. For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a month, leavi
  2. Can't make anything out of those buttons either. If I've learned anything in the 40 years I've been married, it when to keep my mouth shut...
  3. I installed Ubuntu version 9 a while ago on my 2nd HDD and it installed the grub loader so I can choose between Windows XP or Ubuntu. I HATE the long 30 second wait when I boot up windows and I remember from a previous installation that I could edit the Grub configuration file to change the number of seconds that it times out. I went looking all over and couldn't find it in this installation. Could somebody point me to the right directory and file? Thanks. jim
  4. Oh Barb, that's funny I just love "old people" jokes. Thanks
  5. Thank, TT.....you have me feel a whole lot better.
  6. So.....is this something that I need to get rid of, and how would I do that? I can't see it in Explorer.....Avast couldn't delete it or move it......
  7. Yeah, I get that---what is a compression bomb and should I be concerned?
  8. I did my regular virus scan today and it said that I had a file called "gzip" and that it was a decompression bomb. I use Avast. I tried to have the program delete it and it couldn't. It couldn't move it, either. It says that the file is in a directory called c:\users\jim\appdata........firefox\gzip and I could not find it using Windows Explorer I am running Vista Home Premium with all updates current. What is this file? Do I have to worry about it? How do I get rid of it if it IS a problem. Thanks
  9. Gee--I have both a Vista machine and an XP machine and I can look at the folders in either one by using the shortcut to get to Explorer (Windows Key + E)
  10. I just discovered HULU........I have a nice big TV and it would be nice to watch movies thru my Laptop on the bigger screen. Now--what do I need to do this? I have S-Video inputs availabe on the TV.....what would I use to go from the laptop to the input on the TV? or can't this be done........????
  11. Thanks, fellas.......That's what I thought, too. No issues right now so I think I'll hold off. Thanks for being there!! jr
  12. Toshiba sent me a notice that there is an update available for my laptop's BIOS and gave me a link to download it. It has always been my feeling that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" If I'm not having any problems with my laptop and everything is working fine, then should I ignore this notice or would you upgrade anyway? Opinions?? Thanks people!!! jr
  13. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but here goes. We realized last week, that our church's address must be listed somewhere incorrectly somehow, because we had a funeral and people that were coming for the memorial service kept calling the office and asking for directions. Many people commented that they went on Google or Mapquest and tried to find directions and were given incorrect information. I don't know where these sites pull their information from, but it must be listed wrong on some site that they farm their data from. Upon investigation, I find that we
  14. I'm sorry----I thought that I had closed this thread. I sold all that stuff a month or so ago. My fault......sorry!
  15. Thanks to all of you. I had a great day!! jr
