Just thought I'd mention it. Now I'm off to slam my head against a wall until I forget.

Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize two weeks after he took the oath of office. Pretty good for someone whose record of "Present" votes implies he didn't accomplish much.

I hope Sultan wins the award next year for being a Proud American. His life long accomplishments towards Peace have garnered the same results as the Prez, so far.

Thank you for the award. I humbly accept on behalf of all the little people.

Here is my nomination for next years award = Off-color remark caught by House mic = "Yet another member of Congress has been tripped up by an open microphone, suggesting on the House floor where a colleague who disagreed with him should "stick" his viewpoint."

BTW; I might not be around here for a few days because I am going to Detroit tomorrow and claim that I am a homeless person who has been a resident of the city for 6 months, although there are no records of that, since I have been living under a bridge, and get my $3,500.00 share of Obama's stash that they are passing out.

Note: Someone who will NOT get next year's peace award = } Man arrested after allegedly throwing girlfriend's possessions in riverhttp://www.johnsonci...le.php?ID=71620 = "When a deputy responded to a domestic violence call at the residence, he found Sheila Bowers to be very upset, crying and with her clothes soaking wet. She said Hoss had taken her clothes, toiletries, sheets and linens, all pots and pans, dishes and silverware, all of her personal photographs – including those of her children – and other personal items from her drawers, boxed them up and threw them in the river, which runs right behind their residence. Among those items were her diplomas from nursing school and her certification license.".

But... but... he hasn't done anything!

sudden left turn

Fun discussion at the Volokh Conspiracy about the constitutionality of the Obama accepting the prize.

Obama seems to have angered the gods of obscure constitutional provisions. First there was the possible Emoluments Clause violation and now a possible Title of Nobility Clause violation. How many non-lawyers even know that those clauses exist?

I was aware of the Nobility Clause... it was brought to my attention when Rudy Giuliani was running for President.

Someone is turning in his grave.

From Alfred Nobel's will, the Peace Prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

I guess he could use the cash... Michelle was in Paris *again.

At least Obama got countries, that were offended by Bush, to talk with and support us again.

Don't forget your bridge card.... ;)

Viagra and pornography are not staples on the government's food stamp list. But authorities say a Detroit liquor store supplied them during a series of illegal deals.

Federal prosecutors filed fraud charges this week against three people who worked at Jefferson's Liquor Palace.

The alleged scheme worked this way: Food stamp recipients would get cash from the store in exchange for swiping larger amounts off their electronic cards. The store would then be reimbursed by the U.S. Agriculture Department.

And in some transactions, the government says the store provided informants Viagra, liquor and porn in exchange for swiping about $2,000 off food stamp cards.

The government says fraud at the store topped $130,000 over 2 1/2 years. The store is closed.

On the other hand, he's managed to offend the leaders of Afghanistan, France, and half of Eastern Europe. ISTR that Merkel sounded a bit unhappy toward the end of the G-20 too.

Edit: And Honduras. Oh God, Honduras....

How can Obama win the Nobel prize? After all, he's a Arab. And if that isn't bad enough he's also a feriner. I hear he was born in that heathen land of Hawaii.
It's also a slap in the face to dubya bush. bush is much more eligible for the prize. After all he DIDN'T bomb Iran, Mexico, or Massachusetts! That took a lot of restraint. Just think how good it would have been for Halliburtan and the economy if he did! We could have had five wars going on now. People wouldn't be so preoccupied with health care reform, global warming, and the biggest depression since 1929 if they had more important things to worry about. Like total annihilation.

Lets not forget to give a shout out to the nominating committee who saw the potential in Obama only two weeks after his inauguration. With their foresight, shouldn't they be picking lotto numbers on the side?
