Talking tech since 2003

It was just over a year ago when TechCrunch writer Greg Kumparak opined that YouTube should add a feature that lets users easily create GIFs from videos on the site. Well, it looks like YouTube listened.

Yep, YouTube is in the process of rolling out its built-in GIF creator across the site. The feature allows users to specify a start and end point for the GIF from a YouTube video, set captions, and then quickly converts the video clip for easy sharing. YouTube even hosts the file for you, so you don’t even need to upload the file elsewhere.

If you don’t see the GIF option under a video you are watching, don’t fret — it’s coming. It may just take a while for every YouTube user to get access to it. Personally, I can’t wait to see what kind of GIF’s are created from the BestTechie YouTube channel.
