Talking tech since 2003

Motorola’s upcoming Android Wear-powered smartwatch, the Moto 360, could hit retail shelves this summer for $249, or so a document released by the company today indicates.

The document itself is a flyer for a watch-face design contest being run by Motorola for inspired young designers, the grand prize being a Moto 360 (with a suggested price of $249). And while the company hasn’t explicitly issued details on pricing or an official release date, this approximation of end-user cost seems very plausible.

Part of the legality of contests involve the host to disclose the cost of a prize to ensure it’s well-documented in the fine print. In this case, Motorola has chosen to mark the worth of the device at the aforementioned $249.

The Moto 360 is planned for release sometime this summer, and will make use of Google’s Android Wear smartwatch operating system. To learn more about Android Wear and the devices running it, check out our news coverage of the announcement and our video preview.
