The infamous Shaq Fu, a fighting game starring Shaquille O’Neal, is set to receive a follow-up thanks to crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

shaq-fuShaq Fu: A Legend Reborn just ended its funding campaign on Monday, bringing in $473,884 — a good bit over the goal of $450,000. It seems some development has already been underway, but now that fundraising is complete, the team at Big Deez Productions can really get to work on bringing the next Shaq Fu to the finish line.

The game was originally slated to be released on PC, but since the Kickstarter campaign hit (and surpassed) its goal, the Big Deez team has vowed to bring Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn to a number of consoles, as well, including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U.

The Kickstarter campaign may have ended, but you can still visit its page and check out all the neat perks Shaq was including to entice donors, including lunch with a backer and friends, and even a game of one-on-one at Shaq’s house. Not everyone looking for Kickstarter funding has the clout of Shaq, so it’s neat to see some different perks from the normal t-shirts and mugs.

By the way, if you don’t remember the original Shaq Fu, don’t feel bad; it came out back in the Genesis and Super Nintendo era, and it was a terrible game. How terrible? Someone from Electronic Arts is on the record saying Shaq Fu was, “Probably one of the worst games in EA history.” This is the same Electronic Arts that strung together two consecutive “Worst Company in America” awards, so let that sink in for a minute.

What do you think of Shaq Fu getting a sequel? Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think by leaving a comment.
