If you’re one of the thousands of people excited over last week’s surprise Android Wear announcement, then you probably aren’t Ravi Nookala, Sony Mobile’s head of the U.S. division. Because if we’re going to take him at face value, Sony isn’t too psyched about Google’s new smartwatch ecosystem.

Sony has been a driving player in the early days of the smartwatch segment, developing its own fork of Android that runs on devices similar to the ones Android Wear will run on, such as the Sony Smartwatch 2. In a comment given to cnet, Mr. Nookala basically confirmed they’ll be sticking with their solution, saying, “We’ve already invested time and resources on our  platform, and we will continue in that direction,”

Sony was notably not listed among Google’s confirmed Android Wear partners, which included LG, Asus, HTC, Motorola, and Samsung. LG and Motorola have already unveiled their first smartwatches running the new software, Motorola’s Moto 360 of which has been garnering significant praise and hype for its unique circular display.
