Talking tech since 2003

Vine just launched its much anticipated web profiles for its over 40 million users.  Vine, which is owned by Twitter, first announced plans for web profiles in mid-December, and allowed users to reserve their preferred vanity URL ahead of launch. The new Vine web profiles provide an easier way to keep up with new clips from your friends and other users of the popular app. If you want to login to Vine on the web, head on over to vine.co to sign-in and view your home feed and like, comment, and share videos just as you do on our mobile apps.

Prior to this launch by Vine, third-party developers were filling the hole Vine left open on the web.  We previously covered this Chrome extension called VineClient which offered the best third-party Vine experience on the web.  It also appears to still offer more features than Vine’s own web version, but that may not be the case for long.  In Vine’s blog post, engineer Janessa Det writes, “This release is just a first step toward bringing you a richer, more enjoyable web experience. We look forward to introducing more improvements in 2014.”

In addition to web profiles, Vine is launching a feature called TV Mode.  “TV Mode is an entirely new way to watch Vine videos,” simply click the TV Mode button in the upper right corner of your feed or any profile to view the collection of videos in sequence and in full screen mode.

Are you excited about the launch of Vine web profiles and the new TV Mode?
