Those looking for the least-expensive way to upgrade to the iPhone 5C or the iPhone 5S have at least one option in the retail world. According to The VergeWalmart plans to knock $20 off the subsidized cost of the iPhone 5C, placing it at $79 with a two-year agreement. The retailer will also offer the iPhone 5S at $199 with a two-year contract; a $10 discount.

iphone-5cWalmart’s discounts for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C apply to all major carriers. Wireless companies that currently carry iPhones include AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.

The iPhone 5C will be available for pre-order at Walmart retail locations on Sept. 13. Those who want the 5S won’t get any pre-order love, however — instead, those interested in Apple’s newest top-tier smartphone will have to visit Walmart on the phone’s official launch date, Sept. 20.

Those with an older iPhone can trade that model in at Walmart beginning on Sept. 21. The store is offering as much as $300 for an iPhone 5 in good condition. Trading in an older iPhone can help offset the cost of a new one, especially if you have to buy unsubsidized or break your current carrier’s contract to start a new one.

Starting today, Walmart will also drop the entry-level 16 GB iPhone 5 down to $79 for a two-year agreement; likely a move to clear out stock of the device. The iPhone 5 will be shown the door on Sept. 20, with the iPhone 5C occupying the second-tier in the iPhone lineup. Apple will offer two iPhone 4S models — the 8 GB and 16 GB versions — at 97 cents each, and will also sell the iPhone 4 for a dime with a $100 Walmart gift card thrown in.
