Talking tech since 2003

Apple announced the launch of Logic Pro X today, the newest version of its professional audio software. This is the first major update to Logic Pro since 2009 — so its been a long time coming. Nonetheless, the new app is a complete revamp of Logic Pro and includes a new virtual drummer and integrated pitch editing. There is also a free iPad companion app called Logic Remote.

A review by Jim Dalrymple [worth reading] highlighted important features that the updated app brings to the table, while also noting that “Logic Pro X is the best music software release I’ve seen from Apple in a while. They added a lot of pro features, but at the same time managed to make the app more approachable—that’s a difficult thing to do.”

Logic Pro X is now in the Mac App Store for $199.99 with live performance companion app priced at $29.99. The Logic Remote companion app for iPad is available free through the iOS App Store. Apple has also removed the previous versions of Logic Pro and MainStage from the Mac App Store.
