Talking tech since 2003

Been wanting to get yourself a Microsoft Surface RT tablet, but haven’t really been feeling up to paying $499 for what essentially amounts to a Windows tablet that can only run Microsoft Office and a host of Windows Store apps? Well then Microsoft has good news for you.

According to The Verge, Microsoft will be announcing lower price points for their original Surface RT tablet on Sunday, July 14th due to poor sales performance. All Surface RT models will see a $150 permanent price drop, making the devices more competitive with similarly built Windows RT tablets by other manufacturers.

Specifically, if you’re looking to purchase a Surface RT soon, these are the prices you’ll be looking at come Sunday:

– Surface RT 32GB: $349.99
– Surface RT 64GB: $449.99
– Surface RT 32GB with Touch Cover: $449.99
– Surface RT 64GB with Touch Cover: $549.99

All in all, decent prices for decent hardware. It’s worth noting that the Microsoft Surface RT will see full support for the upcoming Windows 8.1 operating system, a free update for all Windows RT and Windows 8 devices that brings a host of new features and improvements to the Windows 8 platform.
