Sprint has been planning to launch its own flagship Android phone, The Vital, and we now have specific details on what that device is and when it’ll be available. If you’re not a fan of waiting, you’re in luck — the 5-inch Sprint Vital will be available from the carrier on June 14 and will be priced at a very modest $99.99.

Vital Quantum ZTEThe Vital is described by Sprint as “a powerful smartphone that doesn’t sacrifice performance or high-end capabilities for less than $100.” The device itself is actually manufactured by ZTE, a Chinese electronics company, and packs in a 1.5-GHz dual-core processor as well as a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 1-megapixel front-facing shooter. The Vital will support Sprint’s small-but-growing LTE network, as well.

The display boasts a resolution of 1280 x 720, which is pretty decent for a 5-inch device. As far as the operating system goes, you’ll find Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 running. We’re not sure exactly how much the Vital’s version of Android will differ from stock, though the comment that “Sprint Vital also keeps the Android experience closer to the way it was intended” is reassuring. Typically, the more skinning a manufacturer or carrier does to a phone, the longer it takes for that device to get an Android update — hopefully, Sprint is staying closer to stock and plans on issuing updates quickly.

You’ll be able to track the Vital down in all Sprint-run sales locations, such as in Sprint stores and on the Web. We’ll let you know if the Vital is also going to start showing up in retail locations like Best Buy.

We’d like to get your thoughts on the Vital. Is it a good deal for around $100, or is Sprint’s new Android smartphone outmatched by phones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One? Drop us a line down below.
