Talking tech since 2003

Prior to Dyn Inc’s acquisition of EveryDNS back in 2010, I used to recommend EveryDNS as a great free and reliable DNS service. At the time of the acquisition, EveryDNS was providing DNS services to over 400,000 domains. Today, Dyn has discontinued EveryDNS and no longer provides its free services, which is why I’m excited to share with you a brand new free DNS service that I found.

If you looking for a free DNS management service provider, then you may want to check out EntryDNS. The service provides a modern and easy-to-use user interface and a lot of features.

As of right now, EntryDNS does not offer premium accounts, but it is something that they may provide in the future as way to generate revenue. With that being said, since there are currently only free accounts you have access to all of the features provided by the service including unlimited domain hosting, unlimited subdomain hosting, dynamic DNS record updates, and API’s for users to update/change DNS records.

EntryDNS supports the following DNS record types: SOA, NS, A, CNAME, AAAA, MX, TXT, SRV and also promises very low TTL values which is great for end-users when making changes to their DNS records as it allows the changes to occur quicker.

The service has also plans to implement support for IPv6, DNSSEC, and more name servers nodes to increase performance.

As an additional note, since the service is still relatively new and does not yet have a track record of whether it is reliable or not, I would recommend testing the waters with a website or project that isn’t top priority until you can thoroughly test the service.
