Talking tech since 2003

Tumblr just launched Photoset, an iOS app that will allow users to share high-resolution photos from their iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. When you use the app you can put together photo collections to easily share with friends on your blog or by uploading it to photoset.com. While the app is being developed by Tumblr, it is not required that you have a Tumblr account to use it.

We all know that Tumblr is a very popular place to share photos, as the blog post points out, “It’s hard to imagine Tumblr without photos, and we love the power a set of photos has to tell a story,” — so it makes sense that Tumblr is looking to get into the photo sharing business, especially if there is potential to grow Tumblr in the process.

The photo sets look great too. You can see a sample photoset here (courtesy of The Verge).

Similar to many other photo apps on iOS, the way Photoset works is by importing photos from your camera roll or taking a photo on the spot, from there you will be able to drag and drop your collection of photos into various layouts and once you’re done, as mentioned, you can either publish to your Tumblr blog or the app can generate a photoset.com URL that you can share on Twitter or via email.

Have you checked out Photoset? What do you think?
