Talking tech since 2003

The newly launched iAds service by Apple so far seems to be a real cash cow for developers.  Jason Ting the developer of LED Light for the iPhone, which lets you turn your iPhone 4’s flash, into an LED flashlight is doing fairly well with iAds.  The free version of his app is using iAds and he just posted some pretty amazing figures for one day of ad revenue.

He made $1372.20 in a single day.  That’s pretty crazy.  You will also notice from his screenshot that his CTR (click through rate) was 11.80% that day.  That’s pretty high, but then again, iAds is a new platform so people are most likely curious about it.  It will be interesting to see if that click through rate stays where it is over time or begins to decrease.  Another thing of note is the eCPM (effective cost per 1,000) is insanely high as well; topping off at $147.55.

Keep in mind that the app’s inventory isn’t full yet either.  Less than 35% of his inventory is full.  So imagine if he had a completely full inventory.  I don’t know about you, but this makes me want in on iAds.  Now if only I had an app idea.
